New FOGO Regulations for NSW in 2026

NSW 2026 Fogo Updates by Star Group Australia

From July 2026, new NSW FOGO (Food Organics Garden Organics) regulations will require many businesses to separate food organics from general waste. The changes will be rolled out in phases, impacting supermarkets, restaurants, cafés, hotels, hospitals, and food courts, based on residual waste volume.

A dedicated food organics collection must be in place, with waste separated correctly to avoid contamination. These reforms aim to reduce landfill and improve sustainability outcomes across the state, making early preparation essential for affected businesses.
